It has taken me a long time to even think about designing a collection of Mainly Cardigans children’s knits. Indeed, my mindset has always been on designing elegant, fitted, and stylish cardigans for women.
Lately however, I have been moved to change my mind. In short, I have had requests from knitters to please design cardigans for children.
The more I thought about it, the more I warmed to the idea.
The current idea is to knit cardigans with sizing to fit age 4, 6, 8 & 10. Two cardigans will be for girls, two for boys and two unisex.
While these cardigans will be available as single pdf downloads as each are finished, I am also thinking of producing an e-book of all the designs and hosting a KAL using these designs.
AS for design, my children’s knits will have the Mainly Cardigans ‘look’. That is, there will be an element of elegance and definitively stylish look to them that children and their knitters will like.
In preparation for this new collection, I spent a bit of time in the weekend knitting the back of a child’s cardigan. To be honest, I am quite liking it.

I am thrilled you have taken on this challenge.
I cannot wait to add your elegant, meticulously designed, classy creations to my children’s pattern library and to knit a pattern you have created. I have never done a KAL and being in Canada not sure how it will work but I am intrigued and await instruction.
